The smartypants blogger returns!

I deeply apologize if you felt abandoned, dear readers. This has been my longest absence from the blog ever, and I expect to be back in the habit now.

Early last week I had surgery and have been using the time since then to recuperate, sleep, drink tea, recuperate, sleep, drink tea… A couple years ago I was diagnosed with endometriosis, this was my second laparoscopic procedure to remove growths. Recovery has gone more slowly this time, I’m still easily fatigued and I have an amazing bruise the color of moldy mustard. Thank you for your kind thoughts while I’m healing.

Who will dangle the string for me now? sigh.

My mom was here for a few days, then Mimi visited for a couple, and Emily tended to me after that. This helped me so much, especially for 2 art events mere days after the knife. It also meant that for 8 or 9 days, there was always someone around to dote on Matilda, and for her to snuggle with at night. It spoiled her just a little. She misses the ladies.

She has been ridding herself of her sadness and boredom by sitting on anything I am or are about to use– I mean, more than usual. The small amount of work I’ve let myself do is all for Etsy, and though I’ve kept cat hair out of all the cards I’ve made, God help me keep her from napping in the middle of my photo shoot set. “Why thank you, a tapestry, warm lights, places to rest my head!”

Here’s a shot I got when she wasn’t blocking my light or pushing rocks off the table or licking my other picture frames (you think I’m joking). This is just one of several art prints I’m listing on Etsy today, complete with frames! This one is a pair of 4×6 inch prints of “The Sky Is A Hazy Shade of Winter” and “I’m Only Happy When it Rains.” Once again my blog readers are the first to see it, and if you buy it from my shop I’ll include a special somethin’ for you.

Keep the happy healing thoughts coming, and thanks so much for reading again!

Katie, I had no idea you had endometriosis! I have it, too, although apparently in a much milder case than yours. I have only had to have one surgery, and that was for diagnosis and a little cauterization. Miserable recovery, though, and I totally know what you mean about the colors of the bruises. I morbidly took some pictures of mine for my own memory, but I’ll certainly spare everyone any of that. 😀 I wish you a speedy and pain-minimal, full recovery. Good luck!

Aw Brittany! I’m so sorry! It’s a lot more common than people think. I really appreciate the empathy. 🙂
